Gene's Software The following programs (except VBRUN600) have all been designed and written by me. Most are free, but a few are shareware. For each of the shareware programs I ask a mere $5 and then only if you feel that it is worth the $5.. All the programs, whether freeware or shareware, are fully functional versions.
My intention is to offer additional programs on this site as time goes on. I hope you find them useful and, in many cases, fun. If you have any comments or suggestions please e-mail them to me. They are always more than welcome. Thanks.
Unless otherwise indicated, all programs require the Visual Basic 6.0 run-time library to be installed on your system. Many people already have it installed. If you have the MSVBVM60.DLL in your windows/sytem directory you do have it installed. If you do not have it, you may obtain a free copy by downloading VBRUN60.EXE from one of the following sources:
- Right here: Download by clicking on the provided VBRUN600 link below.
- America Online: Type the keyword VBRUN and then select VBRUN600.
- The Microsoft web site: Go to www.microsoft.com and then search for VBRUN60.EXE.
- Many other web sites: Use your favorite search engine to find many sites that offer a free download of the run-time library.
To install the run-time library, download the file and copy it into an empty folder. Then double click the file VBRUN60.EXE to run the self-installation.

Mister Mind (v3.0) | My original version of Mister Mind was written-up in the February 1997 issue of Pratical Windows Magazine. Mister Mind is a clever game of logic requiring you to determine the solution to a puzzle. Each time you play, a different puzzle is presented. Solving the puzzle involves deducing the color and position of four (or optionally 5) hidden pegs. This game is highly configurable and points are scored based on how difficult you make the game parameters. High score is maintained, thus giving you a goal and making play more challenging. This version adds a "save game" feature that allows you to save a game in progress. You can then continue play at a leter time. | YES | MisterMind.zip |
IconArtist (v1.2) | IconArtist is a superior icon (32x32) editing tool containing many advanced features that allow you to create and edit your own icons. Basic 256 colors, High Color (16 bit), and True Color (24 bit) are all supported. You can even use IconArtist to capture a portion of the screen and convert that into a new icon. Poker Solitaire (v4.2) | Pokersol is an easy to play, but addictive, card game with some unique features. For example, Although Poker Solitaire is primarily a game for one person there is a very interesting way to play with two people. After one player completes a game the "Repeat" button can be clicked on instead of the "New Game" button. By using the "Repeat" button, the second player can play the exact same cards as did the previous player. See who gets the better score using the exact same deal. | YES | PokerSol.zip |
Magic (v1.1) | Magic is a collection of magic tricks that are performed by the computer for your pleasure. I hope you enjoy them. | YES | Magic.zip | Jomrati (v5.0) | JOMRATI is based on an old game called Pig (and Greed), but with many additional game features that make it unique and different from any other game. It is a dice game that can be played by one, played between two people, or by one against the computer and involves strategy and a good deal of luck. Folder Printer (v1.0) | Have you ever wished you could print out the contents of a folder? With this program you can select any folder and have the names of all its subfolders printed and, if you like, the names of all the files contained by it and its subfolders. Weddings (v1.1) | Weddings is an interesting solitaire card game that takes considerable planning and forethought to be successful. Not to worry. The rules included with this version are such that you always have a good chance of winning. It is a very interesting and enjoyable game. Weddings, as well as all the other card solitaire games offered here, keeps track of the best scores. In addition, all card solitaire games maintain individual statistics for up to eight different players. | YES | Weddings.zip |
Osmosis (v1.1) | Although this is a solitaire card game where luck is a primary ingredient to winning, I assure you that it is quite engrossing and challenging. Osmosis is also known by the name Treasure Trove and Captain Kidd. | YES | Osmosis.zip |
Baroness (v1.1) | You won't win every time with this solitaire card game, but you can be sure you will have fun trying. This version allows you to choose from one of two methods of play.
