- Tangrams
Well, as you might suspect from my puzzle page, I love puzzles and the old Chinese puzzle called Tangrams is one of the best. The site listed here is dedicated to Tangrams and the link above will lead you to puzzles that I created and contributed to the site. Quoting from the site, "Tangrams enjoyed a surge of interest during the 19th century in Europe and America. This, no doubt, was due to the opening up of trade with China and the sailors bringing home new found amusements. 'The Chinese Puzzle' spawned a flood of books and picture card sets. Some quite elaborate Chinese examples exist with pieces carved from and/or inlaid with ivory, jade and other fine materials."
- This Date In History
This is really a very interesting site. Give it a date in history and it will tell you what events occurred on that date.
- Lost In translation
Remember that old telephone game where you told one person a story in private. Then that person did likewise and so on. The story coming out the other end of the chain was certainly not as it started, was it? Well this site is like that. You give it any English phrase you like and it then translates it into five different languages and then translates each back to English. You can get some really funny twists to your original phrase.
